I echo Mr. Hacker’s sentiments about this trailer. surprised at O. Bloom’s decent southern accent. Too bad not everyone in Durham “tawk like this right he-yah.” :/

The Theatrical Trailer For ‘Main Street’

Being a resident of Durham North Carolina, it was a big deal when it was in the news that ‘Main Street’ would be filming in and around town. The film stars Orlando Bloom, Colin Firth, Amber Tamblyn, Patricia Clarkson, Ellen Burstyn and Andrew McCarthy. Rumor has it that Orlando Bloom was super-nice when he was in town, giving people insane tips at local diners and what not.

The thing is ever since ‘Main Street’ wrapped there hasn’t been any information on this film and after watching the trailer I can see why. ‘Main Street’ looks incredibly mediocre for a film with a very good cast. Colin Firth looks so out of place in this film as a shifty southern. This trailer gives the film a vibe like it was filmed for a cable network or something.

It’s fun seeing lots of downtown Durham locals in this trailer, but it’s disappointing that ‘Main Street’ doesn’t look appealing at all after watching this trailer. I really wouldn’t be surprised if this film skips a theatrical release and ends up on DVD without anyone realizing it. There’s not even a release date listed on IMDB for this film. This could just be a terribly assembled trailer and a bad example of what the movie will be like, but at this point I’m not sold on ‘Main Street’ at all.
