Me vs. DERP

I called to have my power transferred to my new place. After answering more than a few security questions, this is the conversation which transpired.
Duke Energy Rep Person: You'll need to make a $150 deposit.
Me: Why?
DERP: Because you have to have good payment history for at least 1 year.
Me: But, I haven't been late on a payment in nearly 2 years.
DERP: (Coarsely) Sir, we show that you set up this account on May 1, 2009.
Me: Right.
DERP: (Terse) And at your last address you were late on some payments.
Me: (Admittedly) Sure, but that was a long time ago. I haven't been late in like 2 years. So what's the problem?
DERP: (Getting annoyed) Sir, we show that you set up your current account May 1, 2009! You have to have good payment standing for at least a year.
Me: (Calmly) It's March of 2011.
DERP: (Silence) Let me talk to my supervisor. Can you hold?
Me: Sure
***3.5 minutes of Terrible Music***
DERP: (Calmly) Mr. Griffin? It looks like we are going to be able to waive that deposit for you.
Me: I thought so.
